Bryan Danielson Talks Up Impact Of Wheeler Yuta On Blackpool Combat Club

Bryan Danielson opened up about his strong bond with Wheeler Yuta and their partnership in the Blackpool Combat Club.

Since its establishment in 2022, the faction has made a significant impact on AEW. Danielson played a pivotal role in bringing Yuta into the group in April 2022, standing alongside William Regal as Yuta shook his hand after a match against Jon Moxley.

Danielson revealed in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, that he and Yuta arrive early at AEW shows to train and teach other talent, highlighting their commitment to helping others in the industry. He also emphasised the benefits of picking Yuta’s brain, as it helps him improve as a wrestler himself.

Danielson acknowledged that the process of teaching others has made him realize certain areas he needs to work on, making him a better wrestler overall.

I go in earlier with Wheeler to teach and train, and I also pick his brain as a younger wrestler. That makes me a better wrestler. Through the process of teaching, I’m becoming better.

The interview also touched on Yuta’s past with the Best Friends faction. Danielson expressed that joining the Blackpool Combat Club has changed the perception of Yuta and the group as a whole. He highlighted the contrast between the friends that Yuta used to associate with, such as Kazuchika Okada, and the elite wrestlers Danielson surrounds himself with.

The idea of Wheeler being with the Best Friends before, and now being with us, that makes us seem different. The idea is, when you join us, you can’t be that anymore. That kind of stuff is cool. I tried to get that across in one of my nights on commentary when Mox, Claudio, and Wheeler were wrestling The Best Friends and Rocky [on Dynamite in June]. My point was, those are the guys Okada hangs out with. Look at the guys I hang out with. That tells you so much.
