Bryan Danielson on William Regal: “He’s Still On Our BCC Group Chat”

William Regal Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson has revealed that even though William Regal has departed from AEW, he is still tight with his old chums in the Blackpool Combat Club.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, Bryan Danielson discussed the Blackpool Combat Club, emphasising the group’s strong sense of unity.

“Our connection as a group feels real. That’s because it is. The story is we train together and we make each other better. The reality is that wrestling together, we do make each other better. Even when Regal left, we didn’t break, and he’s still on our BCC group chat.”

William Regal left AEW in December 2022 after a nine-month stint in the company. His primary focus during his time in AEW was the Blackpool Combat Club, named after the seaside area in England where he grew up.

Regal recruited Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta to the group by April 2022, later adding Claudio Castagnoli in June.

Bryan Danielson continued to express his joy of being part of the Blackpool Combat Club in the interview.

“I love this group. This should be a group that never breaks up. Mox and I have wrestled since the BCC started, we wrestled in the championship tournament [last fall]. That didn’t cause any disturbances in the BCC. That’s the story of the BCC. When the BCC loses, we’ll shake hands and go back to training the next day.”

When Will Bryan Danielson Return To AEW?

Bryan Danielson is not expected to return to AEW until at least October. He is currently on the shelf with a broken arm suffered in a match with Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door 2023.

Recent reports state that Danielson had to have surgery for the injury, which resulted in a steel rod and nine screws being inserted into his forearm.

In the same interview, Danielson would state when he thinks the group should split up.
