Tony Khan Confirms Talks With Goldberg

Goldberg

Could Tony Khan be closing in on his next major AEW signing?

As of the start of 2023, Goldberg officially became a free agent following the expiration of his WWE contract. The former Universal Champion returned to the company after a lengthy hiatus in 2016. Following a shocking squash victory against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, the Hall of Famer would compete part time until 2022, which included 2 reigns as Universal Champion.

Tony Khan Has A Good Relationship With Goldberg

Goldberg’s final match in WWE came at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in February 2022, where the former World Heavyweight Champion would unsuccessfully challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.

Following the expiration of his WWE contract, Goldberg has stated in multiple interviews that he is looking to have a tour of matches as part of his in-ring retirement. With All Elite Wrestling being an option for the Hall of Famer, a move to AEW has been speculated.

Speaking at the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum, Khan has confirmed that he has talked to the former WWE Superstar, but kept the details of the conversation a secret:

“Yeah, I have talked to Bill. It wouldn’t be that unusual. I’ve talked to Bill when he’s not been under contract at times, and I have a good relationship with Bill. I have had a good conversation with him, but I’ve had a lot of great conversations with Bill. His family has done a lot of great things in Jacksonville, he’s related to the Wolfson family, who built the Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville. Bill is a great former football star, I worked in football, and it’s a big part of my life. We have a lot in common and we have a lot of mutual friends, and I have a really good relationship with Bill. I like him a lot. As to what I’ve talked to him about, I would say that’s just between the two of us. It was a good chat. I like Bill a lot, he’s a great guy,”
