Andrade El Idolo AEW

At AEW’s debut edition of Collision, Andrade El Idolo defeated Buddy Matthews in a thirteen-minute thriller.

The match featured both men selling injuries throughout, with Andrade focusing on Matthews’ injured left knee, and Matthews concentrating his attacks on Andrade’s pectoral muscle.

Ultimately, the match ended with Andrade El Idolo using his wife Charlotte Flair’s Figure-8 finishing hold to tap Buddy Matthews out. But the drama didn’t end there. Controversy would soon occur after the match’s conclusion, leading to Andrade grabbing a microphone and issuing a challenge.

Andrade’s message was directed at House of Black members Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews, who attacked him post-match on AEW Collision. His response was brief, but he got his point across well.

“See you in Canada.”

With this threat, Andrade will likely be referring to one of the numerous shows that AEW will be hosting in Canada. Over the next month, AEW will have television tapings in Toronto, Hamilton, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Calgary.

Most notably, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door will take place in Toronto on June 25th. However, Andrade El Idolo has recently suggested that he has been banned from working with New Japan Pro Wrestling, due to current relationships with Mexican promotions CMLL and AAA.

If Andrade is to take on the House of Black, he will need two partners, which are open to guesses at this stage. The most likely choices would possibly be RUSH and Preston Vance, who are currently under the tutelage of Andrade’s former associate: Jose the Assistant.

Regardless of who Andrade El Idolo aligns with, he should be proud of his performance against Buddy Matthews on Collision. After the match’s conclusion, famous members of Andrade’s family took to social media to express their joy at his victory. His father-in-law Ric Flair and wife, Charlotte Flair, were two of the most notable personalities who praised the bout.
