Andrade Claims He’s Banned From Working With NJPW

AEW star Andrade El Idolo has put any appearance at Forbidden Door in doubt by suggesting that he is “banned” from working with New Japan.

The wrestling world has been building to a fever pitch after it was announced that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling were to set to work together to produce the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on the 26th of June.

The first bout announced for the event was AEW World Champion CM Punk taking on Hiroshi Tanahashi but Punk’s foot injury put paid to that. Instead, Tanahashi will take on Jon Moxley in a match to crown an Interim AEW World Champion in Punk’s absence.

Forbidden Door will also see the first AEW All-Atlantic Champion crowned in a Four-Way match that will feature stars from all over the globe with PAC the first competitor to qualify for the bout.

One star that appears set to miss the pay-per-view is AEW star Andrade El Idolo. Andrade took to social media to reveal that he can’t work with New Japan Pro Wrestling and indicated it is to do with the political situation between CMLL and AAA:

“I can’t work with NJPW, thanks CMLL and AAA [thumbs up emoji]”

Mexican promotion CMLL currently has a working relationship with NJPW while in his home country Andrade El Idolo competes for CMLL’s competitors AAA. It appears it is this that is proving the stumbling block to Andrade being able to work with NJPW.

However, Mexican wrestling legend and AAA star Konnan has responded to Andrade’s claims, saying that the decision is nothing to do with AAA and lays the blame at NJPW and CMLL’s doors:

“We have nothing to do with NJ or. CMLL arcane decisions”
