AEW Collision was a night of returns, with huge names such as CM Punk, Miro and Andrade El Idolo reappearing after months on the sidelines.
The show received favourable reviews, with the singles match between Andrade El Idolo and Buddy Matthews mentioned as a particular standout by many reviewers.
Andrade was victorious over Buddy Matthews in the second match on the card, and since his triumph, a couple of his famous family members have commented on the match.
Ric & Charlotte Flair Comment On Andrade El Idolo’s AEW Collision Match
Andrade’s father-in-law, Ric Flair, was the first to comment on the match. In a tweet sent shortly after Andrade’s victory, Flair called it the “best match” he had ever seen that didn’t involve his daughter, Charlotte Flair.

Ric Flair wasn’t the only family member to comment, however, as Andrade El Idolo’s wife, Charlotte Flair, also chipped in on Instagram. Notably, Andrade defeated Buddy Matthews using Charlotte’s signature hold: the Figure-8.

The meeting between Andrade El Idolo and Buddy Matthews has been met with rave reviews online. At the time of writing, it holds a very respectable 7.82/10 rating on Cagematch.net after 171 votes. This makes it the second-highest-rated match on AEW Collision, missing out by a mere 0.08 thanks to the voting for Collision’s main event: CM Punk & FTR vs. Jay White, Juice Robison & Samoa Joe.
After the match, Andrade offered a handshake to his opponent, which was promptly refused. Moments later, Buddy Matthew’s faction, the House of Black, hit the ring to attack Andrade El Idolo. With that in mind, the affair between Andrade and Buddy Matthews seems far from over.
