Backstage Details On Reason Behind Ronda Rousey’s Wrestling Return

A new report has detailed the reason behind Ronda Rousey‘s unexpected professional wrestling return at a recent independent event.

Ronda Rousey returned to professional wrestling for the first time in almost three months during the first night of Lucha VaVOOM’s Halloween Spectacular Area 51. Rousey was revealed as the mystery partner of Marina Shafir against Brian Kendrick and Taya Valkyrie.

The former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion submitted Kendrick with an ankle lock just over five minutes into the match, picking up the win for her team in her first-ever wrestling match outside of WWE. Now, details have emerged on the reason for Rousey’s surprise return to the ring.

During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that she wanted to team up with Shafir, whom she’s been close friends with for many years, just for fun and looks to be wrestling again after she dropped a big tease on X.

“She just wanted a team with Marina and she might be doing a [Pro Wrestling Revolver] show. It might be in November, maybe the 16th, but there’s a Pro Wrestling Revolver show in Los Angeles and Ronda Rousey basically tweeted, ‘Isn’t that interesting?’

I think she wants to team with Marina and Marina does a lot of Revolver [shows]. She’s certainly teasing it. She’s a free agent, she can do what she wants and she’s doing it for fun. It’s in LA, she doesn’t travel, likes hanging out with Marina.”

The report was later confirmed when Pro Wrestling Revolver announced that Rousey would make her debut for the promotion at their November 16th show in Los Angeles. It’s currently unknown who she will face at the event.

Dave Meltzer has also spoken about the possibility of Ronda Rousey joining AEW, questioning if it would be “cost-effective” for the promotion.

Ronda Rousey Hinted She Had Retired Just A Few Weeks Ago

Rousey’s professional wrestling return comes just a few weeks after The Baddest Woman On The Planet indicated that her professional fighting career was over.

Ronda Rousey seemingly confirmed her retirement earlier this month on Instagram when she posted a series of photos of herself with her two-year-old daughter, husband Travis Browne, and close friend Shafir with the caption “Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through my retirement.”
