WWE Star Believes Ronda Rousey Deserves More Credit: “She’s Under-Appreciated”

WWE Star Believes Ronda Rousey Deserves More Credit:

Ronda Rousey is disliked by fans for her honesty according to Shayna Baszler.

Baszler let her feelings for Rousey be known on the road to SummerSlam 2023 before going on to defeat the former Women’s Champion via technical submission in what would be Rousey’s final match for the company.

Although the rivalry onscreen was very personal, Baszler admits that she has a lot of respect for the former UFC Champion outside of the ring for what she has accomplished in 2 different combat sports.

Speaking with WrestleZone, Baszler gave her opinion on Rousey and stated that critics are trying to minimise her accomplishments as they don’t like her on a personal level:

“I think Ronda Rousey is, I think she’s under-appreciated. I think people like to hate her for whatever reason, and it’s been that way in MMA — it’s because she doesn’t mince her words. People like to, because they don’t like her personally, they like to try to erase what she’s done for women’s sports, women’s combat sports, the UFC & WWE. They like to minimize that just because they don’t like her personally and I think that’s a shame. I might not be on the best terms [with her], but I will never deny that she did a lot for women’s combat sports. I think she’s underappreciated in some sense.”

Ronda Rousey was very vocal during her time in WWE, hitting out at critics on multiple occasions. Following a shock loss to Charlotte Flair, Rousey let her opinions be known on social media by stating “None of my critics can do half the sh*t I can.”

Rousey would take it one step further and blast WWE themselves on social media following her short match at Money in the Bank back in July, venting her frustration at multiple changes to the match length:

“When your time gets cut three times but you still put on a banger. #ChickenSalad #TagTeamChampionships”

Ronda Rousey To Compete At Independent Show

Ronda Rousey will return to wrestling at the Wrestling REVOLVER show on November 16th in Los Angeles, California. Following the announcement, Wrestling REVOLVER owner Sami Callihan revealed why Rousey will be making an appearance for the promotion:

“Ronda wanted to do this for charity. She wants to do something for the Hawaiian relief fund, her husband is from Hawai’i, this is a charity she holds near and dear to her heart. As soon as she brought it up to me, I said, ‘Absolutely, this is 100% something I want to be involved with’ because the money will actually go to help people.

“Every cent we make on ticket sales after production is paid off, every cent is given to charity. A lot of people working the show have said, ‘give my money to charity.’ We’re sending the money directly to families in need.”
