Ronda Rousey Stuns AEW Fans With Shock Ring Of Honor Debut

Ronda Rousey in the ring at WWE SummerSlam 2022

Almost three months on from her last WWE match, Ronda Rousey has made her surprise debut in Ring of Honor!

Rousey made her shock appearance during a ROH taping that occurred after last night’s back-to-back episodes of AEW Collision and Rampage. In a rematch from Wrestling Revolver Unreal on Thursday, she took on ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and Billie Starkz alongside Marina Shafir.

Prior to Collision and Rampage going on the air last night, PWInsider reported that Rousey was backstage at the event. They later added via PWInsider Elite that she was spotted with her ring gear and there was talk amongst those at SmackDown that she would be making an ROH appearance opposite Athena.

This marks her third match since losing to Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam in what now appears to be her final WWE match. Last month, Ronda Rousey made her unannounced return to the ring at a Lucha LaVoom event where she also teamed with Shafir and took on Brian Kendrick and Taya Valkyrie.

Is Ronda Rousey Signing With AEW And/Or ROH?

Speculation that Rousey could be AEW or ROH-bound ramped up following her Wrestling Revolver debut after the match ended a no-contest when Athena hit Rousey with her ROH title belt. However, the possibility that Rousey would be revealed as AEW’s mystery signee at Full Gear was debunked by Sean Ross Sapp.

At the time of writing, there is currently no word on if this appearance was simply a one-off, given the event took place in Los Angeles where Rousey lives, or if The Baddest Woman On The Planet will be appearing in ROH and/or AEW more regularly.

Although many were delighted to see Ronda Rousey make the shock appearance, one former WWE Champion described the appearance as a move to “a lesser company.”
