Tony Khan Comments On Status Of Ronda Rousey After Shock ROH Debut

Ronda Rousey making her entrance at WWE WrestleMania 35

Tony Khan has provided an update on the current status of Ronda Rousey following her surprise debut in Ring of Honor.

Almost three months on from last competing in WWE, Ronda Rousey made her unannounced Ring of Honor debut earlier this week. Rousey teamed up with close friend Marina Shafir to take on ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and Billie Starkz in a tag team rematch from their clash at Wrestling Revolver Unreal on Thursday.

The move has since led to speculation regarding Rousey’s future in wrestling and if a contracted move to ROH or even AEW could be in the cards. Tony Khan has now addressed the speculation directly when asked about the former WWE star’s status at the AEW Full Gear Media Scrum.

Khan stated that Rousey is not signed to either ROH or AEW in any capacity and the idea of her shock appearance was simply discussed between Rousey and himself after her match with Athena and Starkz at the Wrestling Revolver event in order to build interest in ROH.

“She’s not signed but we had a great conversation. It came about, of course there was some unfinished business. They had that match [at Wrestling Revolver] and I thought it would be great for our fans to [see them] settle it in the ring.

At the Wrestling Revolver show they had the tag match, and to be honest, I had spoken to them and I thought it would be great to have a match to build some interest and have the story come back to Ring Of Honor.”

Tony Khan Would “Love” To Bring Back Ronda Rousey

Despite Rousey not being contracted to either of Khan’s companies, he went on to admit that he was very happy with her performance and would love to welcome her back with open arms should she decide to make another appearance in the future.

“I thought that it would be great to see that tag team against two of the ‘Horsewomen’, that being Marina [Shafir] and Ronda Rousey. And Ronda was happy to come here. She was great, the crowd was really excited to see her and it was a great match. We’d love to have her back sometime.

It was really fun being out here, she’s a local, she lives nearby and that really helped make it possible. So any time it’s convenient, we’d love to have her back because she was tremendous and it was a great match. If people want to see it, check out ROH.”

While Khan is impressed by the former UFC Champion, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff believes that Ronda Rousey is overrated in wrestling.
