“A Number Of Companies” Interested In Signing Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle kicks Gunther

After leaving WWE, it seems Matt Riddle won’t be short of job offers.

On September 22nd, Riddle announced he’d left WWE, bringing to an end his five-year spell with the company. During his time with the sports entertainment giant, Riddle was dogged by controversy but ended as a multiple-time Tag Team Champion as well as a former United States Champion.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there’s been interest in Riddle in both MMA — where he initially made his name — and pro wrestling.

“Since the word last week of his being let go, there has been interest by a number of companies in both pro wrestling and MMA. Most pro wrestling companies of any size immediately expressed interest, and in MMA, both PFL and Bare Knuckle Fighting had expressed interest due to his name value from WWE and the fact he was a decent MMA fighter.

Riddle hasn’t fought in nine years and is 37, and real fighting is not a sport it would be wise to go back into unless it’s a big money offer. We’ve also seen with C.M. Punk that getting exposed in real fighting does not hurt someone when returning to pro wrestling as fans see them as different worlds.”

Giving his opinion on the situation, wrestling veteran Konnan believes that Matt Riddle will sign with AEW.

Matt Riddle Had Backstage Heat In WWE

Elsewhere in the Observer, Meltzer lifted the lid on Matt Riddle’s backstage heat within WWE. The bad feeling was reportedly caused by Riddle going completely off-script during a promo to talk about Randy Orton and his injury struggles.
