“I Don’t Think Tony Can Help Himself” – Konnan Believes AEW Will Sign Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle with the WWE Unites States Championship

Matt Riddle becoming All Elite is an inevitability according to Konnan.

As seen in the past few years, whenever a high-profile name has been released from their WWE contract, there is a high probability that they will be making their AEW debut shortly after the 90-day no-compete has expired. According to Konnan, Riddle will be no different.

Speaking on the Keeping It 100 podcast, the former WCW Television Champion believes that Tony Khan will be drawn to the new free agent in December:

“I just think, unfortunately, I don’t think Tony can help himself,” Konnan said. “He’s like … it’s almost like you’re a sneakerhead, and the new sneaker comes out and you just have to have it,”

As Riddle was released due to multiple alleged offences, the former United States Champion would be one of AEW’s more controversial hires in recent memory. Addressing Riddle’s previous actions, Konnan acknowledged that Riddle was popular but there came a point where WWE had no choice:

“Obviously he’s kind of a rebel … and he lasted this long because he had talent and he was over. But I guess that s**t that happened in the airport was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Who Will Sign Matt Riddle?

The Original Bro will be able to appear in another promotion on December 21st.
