Cody Rhodes did not have the fairytale ending at WrestleMania 39.

Returning from injury at the Royal Rumble, The American Nightmare would go on to win the match and punch his ticket to The Show of Shows at SoFi Stadium. Adamant on finishing the story, Rhodes quickly announced that his champion of choice would be Roman Reigns.

WrestleMania Sunday came and many fans felt like a change was going to happen. With Reigns previously defeating Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn in their home countries, many felt that this was Rhodes’ night. Sadly, this would not be the case as the standard Bloodline interference would hand Rhodes the loss and send a lot of fans home unhappy. To make matters worse, it was revealed that a small group of people stayed behind after the final bell.

Former WWE Superstar Top Dolla was asked for his favourite Rhodes story on social media. The Hit Row member revealed that he, B-Fab and Ashante “Thee” Adonis were the only ones left at the viewing platform when The American Nightmare made his way backstage, a gesture that Rhodes would never forget:
