Cash Wheeler Not Injured Despite Previous Reports

FTR AEW Cash Wheeler Dax Harwood

Cash Wheeler will be back in the ring soon.

On the October 8th episode of Collision, FTR lost the AEW World Tag Team Titles in stunning fashion to Ricky Starks and Big Bill. The champions were utterly demolished in under five minutes and Wheeler was on the end of a massive Chokeslam from Big Bill through the announce table.

This led to speculation that a member of FTR may have suffered an injury, as the quickfire match was highly unusual. It was even reported that Cash Wheeler had gone down with an undisclosed issue.

However, a fresh report has revealed that this isn’t the case. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the whole situation was simply a storyline.

“So the deal, I guess, is that Cash Wheeler wasn’t hurt, and it’s all storyline. [He wasn’t hurt?] No, it’s storyline. And, you know, it was just to put those guys over big. And, you know, they’re gonna be back in the mix. And it was, it was the match thing. I mean, the match thing was their idea for sure.

[Alvarez mentioned no one disputed Cash Wheeler was injured up until this point] They said that it’s all story. There’s no injury, it was just that. But there’s supposed to be a rematch. I mean, the way it was laid out. It’s setting up a rematch. When Ricky Starks and Big Bill said there’s gonna be no rematch. It was to say it was basically set up a rematch.”

Cash Wheeler And Dax Harwood Remain Under Contract With AEW

The other theory that emerged was that FTR might actually be leaving AEW — a theory given more weight as Harwood had recently trademarked CMFTR. The moniker was used by the pair when they teamed with CM Punk, who some believe is still WWE-bound.

However, FTR remains under contract until around 2027, and there are no issues between the former champions and AEW.
