WWE Hall Of Famer Recalls Positive Reunion With CM Punk Backstage At NXT Deadline

WWE Hall Of Famer Recalls Positive Reunion With CM Punk AT NXT Deadline

A recent surprise CM Punk visit to NXT was very well received according to a Hall of Famer.

Following rumours that Punk may make a surprise appearance at NXT Deadline, the familiar opening riff of Cult of Personality rang through the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut as the former World Champion, wearing a Bret Hart hoodie, took a selfie in the ring with Shawn Michaels.

While Punk’s shock appearance at Survivor Series was understandably a closely guarded secret, the NXT Deadline appearance was very well known according to NXT announcer Booker T.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, the former King of the Ring confirmed that Punk was interacting with multiple members of the roster and was very friendly when the two caught up:

“CM Punk wasn’t hiding. He wasn’t hidden away in some room making a surprise appearance. He was running around, mingling. I ran into Punk in catering. He was sitting there talking with a couple of friends (Jeremy Borash). I got me a little meal and sat down. Before I sat down, I walked up to CM Punk and I said, ‘CM Punk! What up man?’ He stands up and he goes, “What’s up man, you flip flopper.” I go, ‘You know how the business is, sometimes you’re a heel, sometimes you’re a babyface but welcome home.'”

In response to being called a flip-flopper by Punk, Booker T jokingly admitted there was truth to that:

“I am a flip flopper. That’s not a bad thing. I’m a flip flopper in the way of sometimes I see things one way, sometimes I see things the other way.”

CM Punk Has Memorable Reunion On WWE Raw

Although the former World Champion was well received by the NXT locker room at Deadline, with a returning Cora Jade delighted to meet her childhood hero once again, the top star of Raw was much less friendly with his greeting. Building to the near-inevitable showdown at WrestleMania, CM Punk and Seth Rollins stood face-to-face on a recent edition of WWE Raw.
