Rob Van Dam Credits WWE Star With Inspiring The Next Generation

Rob Van Dam highly praises Rey Mysterio for proving that size is not everything in WWE.

Known as the Biggest Little Man, Mysterio changed the game in wrestling by using his innovative offensive style to stand up and be seen in the land of giants. The company would go on to believe in the Hall of Famer too as Mysterio can credit multiple World Championship reigns and a Royal Rumble victory in amongst a long list of accolades.

RVD teamed with Mysterio on multiple occasions and captured the tag titles alongside the master of the 619 in 2004. Speaking on the 1 Of A Kind podcast, Van Dam went into detail how Mysterio has inspired younger fans to achieve their dreams:

“Being a cross-cultural superhero role model like he is, he’s introduced a lot of kids to this imaginative world where they can not only believe in superhero-like fantasies and luchadors, but they can believe in themselves, too,” Van Dam said. “Besides just being such a bridge-gapper between smaller guys and proving that if you’re really good enough, you could overcome a lot of everything, not just you can overcome a lot of everything if you’ve got enough talent. He proves that without being specifically narrowed into just his size.”

Will Rob Van Dam Return To AEW?

Still wrestling in 2023, Van Dam joins a small list of names who have wrestled for WWE, TNA and AEW. Having 2 matches with the promotion since the shock debut, it is unknown when or if the former World Champion will be back in All Elite Wrestling. During a media call ahead of WrestleDream, Tony Khan stated that he would love to see Rob Van Dam make a return to AEW at some point in the future.
