Mercedes Mone Is “Somebody We’re Really Interested In Working With” – Tony Khan

Mercedes Mone at NJPW Resurgence

Tony Khan is a big fan of Mercedes Mone and hopes AEW can work with her in the future.

Mone made news by appearing at AEW All In in Wembley and during the AEW All Out media call was asked if he plans to incorporate women wrestling in the upcoming WrestleDream event on October 1st in Seattle. Tony Khan said he’d love to do that and made mention how Mone’s star power made her impact in Japanese wrestling.

“I think one of the great stars that’s been involved in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, who I have a ton of respect for is Mercedes Mone and I think we have a good relationship and I also think she is one of the greatest wrestlers on the planet and it was great to have Mercedes Mone at AEW All In.”

WrestleDream will be an event in honor of the late Antonio Inoki, who formed New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 1972. During the AEW All In post-show scrum, Khan told Dave Meltzer that he’d love to incorporate a lot of NJPW talent for the event.

Could Mercedes Mone Compete At WrestleDream?

Although Tony Khan had high praise for Mone, he did note that her leg injury is going to eliminate any chance of her competing on the card.

“I’m not expecting that because she had a major injury, but when she is clear, that’s somebody we’re really interested in working with and also she’s had great experiences in New Japan. She’s been a great champion there.”

Continuing to hint at an in-ring return, Mercedes Mone has once again dropped a hint at what’s next.
