Former WWE Star Teases WrestleMania Match Against Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley

One multi-time WWE Women’s Champion would love a first-time bout with Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.

Mickie James has accomplished plenty in her decades-long career, having held the WWE Women’s Championship on five occasions and the Divas Championship once. In recent years, James has been more focused on the IMPACT/TNA Knockouts Title, but in 2022, she made a surprise return to WWE for just one night when she competed in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

With the 2024 Royal Rumble fast approaching, fans are wondering if the decorated star might be making another appearance in Tampa, FL on January 27th. Speaking in a recent interview on Gabby AF, James made it clear that she has no intention of appearing in the Rumble if she’s not going to pointing to a WrestleMania sign at the end.

“I’m not coming back at this Rumble unless I’m winning because Hardcore Country at WrestleMania? It prints itself. Because the winner gets a title shot at WrestleMania. If you win the Rumble, you automatically get a title shot.”

Mickie James Wants Rhea Ripley At WrestleMania

When asked which title she’d want to go for if she were to win the 2024 Rumble, James chose current Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, pointing out that they’ve never faced each other inside the squared circle.

“Rhea. You know why? Because I’ve never faced her. I never had a chance to wrestle her. I think Mami needs to take on The Mother. [laughs]”

Rhea Ripley became Women’s World Champion at WrestleMania 39, defeating Charlotte Flair after winning the 2023 Royal Rumble in San Antonio.

In a previous interview, Mickie James had high praise for Ripley’s fellow Judgment Day star Dominik Mysterio.
