Rhea Ripley Makes History At WWE WrestleMania 39

Rhea Ripley

At WrestleMania 39, Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair went to war over the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The hard-hitting match saw both women take a huge amount of punishment. While Flair seemed to have an answer for everything Ripley threw at her, she couldn’t keep the 2023 Royal Rumble winner down.

In the end, The Nightmare finally put The Queen away with a Riptide from the second rope to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time.

Rhea Ripley is a Grand Slam Champion

With the win, Ripley has achieved an incredible feat in becoming the only woman in WWE history to win the Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK Women’s Championships as well as the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

While other women have captured four of those titles, adding the NXT UK Title is unique to Ripley.

At the post-show press conference, Ripley commented on the achievement, saying it’s something she finds “so satisfying”.

“I’m here to make history. Growing up in Adelaide, South Australia, I always got told that my dream of coming to the WWE would probably not happen.

“So just making it here is such an accomplishment, but being the first Grand Slam Champion, to have those exact championships, is so satisfying.

“I am so extremely proud of myself and my journey here to the WWE, and my journey here within the WWE.

“To be able to accomplish all those historic moments, man — that’s the one thing that I strive for, making history. I want my name etched in the history books forever, and I’ve gone and done that.”

Ripley wasn’t the only person to win gold at WrestleMania 39, with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens also overcoming The Usos to become the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
