WCW Star Gets Back In The Ring After Over A Decade Absence

A select few fans got to see a notable WCW star show that he’s “still got it” in the squared circle.

“The Podfather” Conrad Thompson hosted his annual “Top Guy Weekend” for his biggest AdFreeShows.com subscribers down in Huntsville, Alabama this past Friday through Sunday and the attendees got to be active participants in and out of the ring. There were also legends of the ring who made the experience all the more interactive for fans. Names like Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett, Road Dogg, Kevin Sullivan and Dr. Tom Prichard all made their presence known, but another veteran in the mix was Lash LeRoux.

WCW Star Lash LeRoux Steps Back In The Wrestling Ring

A gifted artist, LeRoux was busy doing caricatures for the “Top Guys and Gals,” but when the wrestling ring presented itself, LeRoux seized the opportunity and took a couple of bumps, something he hasn’t done on the regular in over a decade. Thompson took video of the moment and the “Ragin’ Cajun” made it look like he was riding a bike.

“Lash LeRoux is only a few months older than AJ Styles. LeRoux stepped in the ring for the first time in over a decade after we wrapped ‘Top Guy Weekend.'”

In previous interviews, LeRoux admitted that he lost a lot of enthusiasm for wrestling after WCW was bought out in 2001. He had some tryouts with WWE before he continued to wrestle internationally and on his local independent scene. He had his last match against Bull Buchanan in Pell City, Alabama. LeRoux talked about it in a 2022 interview with WrestleZone.

“I said, ‘Hey Bull, I’m retiring tonight.’ He goes, ‘Alright, man. Yeah. Sure. Okay, cool.’ I said, ‘No, I really am, I’m retiring tonight.’ ‘Alright.’ He never took me seriously. I saw him years later as a matter of fact, he goes, ‘Where you’ve been?’ I go, ‘I told you I was retiring!’ ‘I thought you were ribbing me!’ ‘No that was a long rib!’

“We had a great match. I walked out of the ring, I did not cut a promo, I didn’t announce it, I didn’t make sure it got out there on the Internet, I just walked out, hung my boots up and have not been in a wrestling ring since then.”

After retiring LeRoux hit a bad spot in his life when he weighed 316 lbs, but took a year and a half to cut back down the WCW Cruiserweight level.

“I’m about 234 now with a 34-inch waist. I’m leaner than I was in WCW. It was hard work. It was just pure hard work. I learned the value of being consistent rather than being just intense, right?”

There’s no indication as to if LeRoux has an interest in donning the wrestling boots once more, but Thompson had some added emphasis with three “thinking” emojis in the above tweet.
