Conflicting Reports On AJ Styles Returning To WWE

AJ Styles is expected to return to WWE soon but the exact date is unconfirmed.

On the September 22nd edition of SmackDown, AJ Styles aligned himself with former rival John Cena and declared that they would face Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa together at Fastlane. However, Styles was taken out later in the show by The Bloodline and has not been seen since. He was replaced by LA Knight as Cena’s partner for Fastlane.

In November, it was reported that Styles was expected to make his return to WWE on the November 10th episode of SmackDown, but the show came and went without an appearance from the phenomenal one in Columbus, OH.

Now, speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reports that Styles is expected to be back on SmackDown on Friday, December 8th.

“By the way, AJ Styles is going to be back on Friday. Or he’s supposed to be back on Friday. You know, he was supposed to be back a couple weeks ago and wasn’t back. But that’s the plan right now.”

In a new update on the day of the show, The Phenomenal One will not be appearing on the Tribute to the Troops special. As reported by PWInsider, Styles is not slated to be on the show. The reason for this is a “creative decision” and the return date is stated to be “any week now” but not December 8th.

When Did AJ Styles Last Wrestle In WWE?

While Styles made an appearance on the September 22nd episode of SmackDown, his most recent match took place after SmackDown went off the air one week prior. Styles teamed with John Cena to defeat The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso in a dark match on September 15th in Denver, CO.

In a recent interview, AJ Styles reflected on the possibility of returning to the world title picture. Styles last challenged for a top championship at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, losing to Seth Rollins in the tournament final to crown the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion.
