AJ Styles Reflects On Returning To World Title Contention

AJ Styles

AJ Styles is one of the most decorated wrestlers active today. He has been a world champion in WWE, ROH, IMPACT, and NJPW, which is a feat that very few wrestlers have managed to achieve.

With that in mind, many fans wondered why there was such a long period in Styles’ career during which he wasn’t involved in the world title. After all, it has been over two years since Styles had had anything resembling a title shot.

And while Styles hasn’t explained that dearth of title opportunities, he has expressed his happiness on being back in title contention.

AJ Styles spoke with Alex McCarthy and explained what he felt about the new world title on RAW and what it feels like to finally be back competing for WWE’s top prizes.

It’s about time I’m back in the heavyweight title picture. Unfortunately, I’m up against Seth Rollins, who’s probably one of the best. I said it a long ago that he’s gonna be great, and nothing has changed. He’s still one of the best, no doubt about it, so we’ll see what happens.”

AJ Styles was been noticeably absent from WWE for about six months from December 2022 to May 2023. This forced him to miss two of WWE’s biggest events, the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

It turns out that Styles was out recovering from an injury, but now he hopes to “finish his career strong” now that he’s healthy enough to complete.

Out of action for a number of weeks, a WWE return date for AJ Styles has been announced.
