Jon Moxley Suffers Terrifying Injury During AEW Grand Slam

Jon Moxley Set For Huge Championship Match At AEW All Out

The end of Jon Moxley’s match with Rey Fenix was changed due to injury.

At AEW Grand Slam, Jon Moxley put his International Title on the line against Rey Fenix. Moxley won the gold back at All Out with a typically blood-soaked win over Orange Cassidy. After claiming the gold the star has already seen off AR Fox, Action Andretti, and Big Bill before his date with Fenix at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The wild brawl began before the bell even rang, with the two men fighting on the ramp. As predicted, the match was a complete clash of styles with Moxley doing his best to ground the high-flying former AEW World Tag Team Champion.

However, as the match barreled towards a conclusion, things went badly off the rails. Fenix hit a Black Fire Driver on his rival, but Moxley’s head was positioned slightly too low. This meant that Moxley’s head was driven into the canvas.

Controversy followed as the referee didn’t deliver the three count, despite Moxley not moving to kick out. This caused Fenix to deliver the move again, and at the second attempt, the referee did count Moxley’s shoulders to the mat and Fenix was declared the new champion.

What Happened To Jon Moxley After The Match?

Although clearly struggling in the ring, it seems that Jon Moxley has escaped serious injury. A report from Fightful Select confirmed the finish of the match was changed, but after being checked backstage Moxley said he was okay.

Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer noted that Moxley had been diagnosed with a minor concussion.
