“Bryan Danielson Is The Greatest Pure Pro Wrestler Of All Time” – Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson has earned his spot among wrestling’s greats according to Jon Moxley.

After starting out as rivals in AEW, Moxley and Danielson eventually joined forces at the behest of William Regal, and the Blackpool Combat Club was born. Although Regal has since left, the group has added Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, and Danielson and Moxley remain the cornerstones of not only the faction but also two of the most important figures in the AEW locker room.

During a new interview with Rick Ucchino of Bleav Pro Wrestling, Moxley opened up about his admiration for Danielson and why he’s earned a spot among the greats.

“Bryan, I consider maybe just the greatest pro wrestler that ever lived. Which is a very humbling thing that I get to say that, I get to be tag partners with him and work with him. To have somebody like that on your side, to bounce ideas off of it to play that Regal role and tell you this sucks or whatever, or change that, that’s an immense tool, that I don’t take for granted, that I have in my toolbox that I get to pick his brain.

Bryan is like the greatest pure pro wrestler of all time. If you just picked him up and stuck him in any ring of the world, whether it be in the parking lot of an auto parts store in Tijuana, or the Tokyo Dome, or the main event of WrestleMania, or AEW Dynamite, you put him in any ring against any opponent with no context whatsoever and just ring the bell.

Anybody watching, he will suck into that match and they’ll feel like they’re watching a real struggle and he just completely sucked into this match for the duration of it against anybody anywhere, anytime. He’s just the most perfect pure wrestler that’s ever lived. I’ve taken a great deal of influence from him, as I’m sure many pro wrestlers have,”

Jon Moxley Reflects On Physical Struggles

In recent weeks, Bryan Danielson has lifted the lid on his injury struggles admitting he might soon be forced to call time on his full-time career as a result. Given Danielson’s very public injury problems and his incredibly physical in-ring style, this news is perhaps not much of a surprise, and neither are comments from Jon Moxley that he’s also struggling.

In the same interview where he discussed Danielson, Moxley revealed he’d been told by a doctor that his arthritis is similar to that of a 70-year-old.

Providing announcing duties for the dream match between Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr., Jon Moxley has revealed how much fun he had being sat behind the desk.
