Chris Jericho Suffers Strange Injury On AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho did not walk away from his most recent match on AEW Dynamite unscathed.

As seen on the November 15th edition of the flagship show, Jericho took part in the Like A Dragon Gaiden Street Fight, a no-disqualification match sponsored by the Sega videogame franchise.

Jericho teamed with Kenny Omega, Paul Wight and Kota Ibushi to face The Don Callis Family members Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Brian Cage. Despite tables, chairs, glass and even a bicycle being used as weapons throughout, Jericho suffered his injury before the bell even rang.

Jericho made his entrance first for his team and stood on the entrance ramp as he waited for Omega to join him. As revealed on social media by Jericho himself, the pyro that went off during Omega’s entrance burned his arm.

Jericho continued and wrestled the match in a suit despite the accident involving fireworks. The former World Champion spent a lot of the match in the concourse area brawling with Takeshita, whom he defeated in a DDT show over the weekend. The match was won by Jericho’s team when Omega pinned Cage following a One Winged Angel.

Chris Jericho Praises AEW

One of the first signings to All Elite Wrestling, Jericho has proudly flown the flag for the promotion for over 4 years now. When the announcement of a new promotion was made public, many thought that a rival to WWE would not last 6 months, yet alone more than 4 years and with 3 weekly TV shows. In a recent interview, Chris Jericho described how AEW had defied all previous expectations.

Update: November 17th

According to a new report, Jericho’s response may have exaggerated the nature of his pyro-related injury. As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a pyro spark did connect with Jericho but this did not cause any harm:

The story that Jericho suffered a burn from the pyro before the street fight was overblown. A spark did hit his arm and did no damage but he was having fun on the Internet with it and then the story got exaggerated.
