Adam Copeland Responds To Critics Of Upcoming AEW Match

Adam Copeland has addressed a common criticism in regard to an upcoming match.

On December 6th, Copeland will challenge Christian Cage for the TNT Championship on AEW Dynamite. The match will mean a lot to The Rated R Superstar on a number of levels. Along with getting the opportunity to finally wrestle his long-time friend and there being a championship on the line, it will be in Montreal, Canada.

With this being the first time that the two best friends have faced off one-on-one since 2010, the match has a big fight feel to it. However, like many big matches that have taken place on AEW TV in 2023, many feel that this should have been saved for pay-per-view. According to Copeland, where the match takes place is more important than when.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, the Hall of Famer addressed the criticism AEW fans have and stated why Montreal was the location for the title match:

“I’ve heard, ‘Why isn’t this at the pay-per-view?’” said Copeland. “To me, where is more important than when. We get to do it in Montreal. There’s no other choice for us but to have it here. My family is coming for this one, cousins and relatives who’ve known Jay for years.

“There’s something special about doing it in Canada. I am really, really amped up to do this one. I truly think there’s not another story like ours, with this real story. Two friends from Orangeville, Ontario, who made it where we made it because of each other. I’m hoping this is a rabid crowd. This is what I dreamed of–working that guy in Montreal for a championship.”
