A&E announced today that they will be debuting a new television series that stars none other than WWE icon ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
In January of this year, a number of videos featuring the former WWE Champion surfaced on social media, featuring Austin acting as a weatherman as well as working in a fast food restaurant. At the time, fans had no explanation for this bizarre behavior, but all has been explained thanks to a new press release from A&E, revealing that Austin is set to star in a new series called Stone Cold Takes On America. The press release reads as follows:
For over two decades, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin gave everything to wrestling, becoming one of the all-time greats. However, his dedication to his career meant sacrificing many of the other experiences life has to offer. In each one-hour episode of “Stone Cold Takes on America,” Austin will hit the road in his RV, accepting challenges from fans that push him out of his comfort zone, and make up for lost time.
Through archival footage from classic WWE moments and his own stories, the series weaves together Austin’s old and new life—both filled with incredible feats and his unique point of view—as he celebrates and learns from new experiences how only “Stone Cold” Steve Austin can.
With news that Austin turned down a match at WrestleMania 39 despite multiple huge money offers, news of the Texas Rattlesnake’s new venture is exciting for fans eager to see him on their television screens. The show is set to premiere on Sunday, April 30th at 10pm ET/PT.
Steve Austin Came Out Of Retirement At WrestleMania 38
Stone Cold Steve Austin retired from in-ring competition following WrestleMania 19 in 2003, and many (including the legend himself) believed he would be one of the very few wrestlers not to return to the squared circle.
However, ahead of WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, the Texas Rattlesnake was announced to take part in a special edition of the Kevin Owens Show, and it was heavily speculated that the appearance could turn into a full-fledged match.
Sure enough, Austin confronted Owens and agreed to a match, defeating KO in a No Holds Barred Match. The next night, after Vince McMahon returned to competition against Pat McAfee, Austin confronted his decades-old rivalry with the WWE Chairman and delivered what it considered one of the worst stunners in company history.
