Vince McMahon Yelled At WWE Announcer Following Infamous Match Ending

Vince McMahon was furious at the end of Hell in a Cell 2019, but not for the same reason that the fans were.

In the main event of the show, Seth Rollins came face-to-face with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt inside the demonic structure. Following an excessive amount of finishers used, the match ended via referee stoppage following Rollins using a sledgehammer onto The Fiend.

The finish was heavily criticised and regarded as one of the worst match endings in recent history. In the arena, fans were heard chanting for refunds and even for rival promotion AEW.

Recalling his perspective from the night, former Raw announcer Dio Maddin, also known as Mace, spoke about the infamous finish during a Reddit Q and A. Maddin recalled trying to explain what was going on to the fans, but remembers McMahon forcing him to be quiet and being pelted with projectiles:

Bray and Seth HIAC was certainly the most memorable. I remember Vince yelling at me to stop trying to explain the finish and then the crowd threw trash at us as we left lmaooo

This was one of Maddin’s final shows that he provided announcing duties for. In the lead-up to Survivor Series, the commentator was attacked by Brock Lesnar who delivered an F5 onto Maddin through the announce table. This would be Maddin’s final appearance before he was repackaged as a member of Retribution.
