Bray Wyatt – 2022 Biography, News, Net Worth, Family

Windham Lawrence Rotunda was born on May 23rd, 1987 in Brooksville, Florida. The son of WWE legend Mike Rotunda aka Irwin R. Schyster and grandson of Blackjack Mulligan, it was perhaps inevitable Rotunda would join the family business by becoming a pro wrestler himself.

In 2005, his final year attending Hernando High School, Rotunda won a state wrestling championship but decided to pursue football instead. He earned a football scholarship to Troy University but dropped out after two years to begin his pro wrestling career.

On February 5th, 2009, debuted in WWE’s developmental promotion, Florida Championship Wrestling, under the name Alex Rotundo. He soon began teaming up with his brother Taylor, then going by Bo Rotundo, and the pair won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championships.

In 2010, when NXT was using a reality game show format, Rotunda entered the second season, now using the name Husky Harris and having Cody Rhodes as his pro. He was eliminated from the contest in week 11 alongside Percy Watson.

Husky Harris made his main roster debut at Hell in a Cell 2010, aiding Wade Barrett in defeating John Cena and joining The Nexus soon after. His run with the group lasted through the leaderships of both Barrett and CM Punk before he and most of the faction were on the receiving end of punt kicks from Randy Orton, writing them out of the show.

He made his return to FCW and once again joined his brother. In February 2012 the pair had a second reign with the Tag Team Championships but lost them to Corey Graves and Jake Carter only a few weeks later.

Later in 2012, WWE rebranded FCW as NXT and it was during this time that the Bray Wyatt character was born. Wyatt began recruiting members of his ‘Family’ later that year, with Luke Harper joining first followed by Erick Rowan.

The trio made their way to Raw in May 2013, initially targeting Kane. This led to Bray Wyatt defeating the Devil’s Favourite Demon in a Ring of Fire match at SummerSlam that August. They then had heated feuds with Bryan Danielson, The Shield, and John Cena. Cena defeated Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX, the first time The Eater of Worlds had been pinned since joining the main roster.

In 2014, Bray Wyatt parted ways with Rowan and Harper for a time, entering solo feuds with Dean Ambrose and then The Undertaker. At WrestleMania 31, The Undertaker defeated Wyatt. Soon after the loss, the New Face of Fear reformed his family, this time with the addition of Braun Strowman and, in late 2017, Randy Orton. However, the group saw little success during this time, losing feuds with the likes of Undertaker & Kane and The League of Nations.

At the 2018 Elimination Chamber, Bray Wyatt finally reached the top of WWE when he defeated John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Dean Ambrose, and Baron Corbin in the titular bout to capture the WWE Championship. Following the victory, Orton turned on his teammate, leading to the two facing off over the title at WrestleMania 33 where The Viper took the title.

For a time after this loss, Wyatt engaged in a rivalry with Matt Hardy before the pair joined forces as The Deleters of Worlds and reigned as the Raw Tag Team Champions for several months.

After splitting from Hardy, Wyatt disappeared for some time before re-emerging with a personality split between the host of The Firefly Fun House and his dark, masked alter-ego, The Fiend. As The Fiend, he destroyed Finn Balor in a match at SummerSlam 2019 before attacking several WWE legends over several weeks including Mick Foley and Kurt Angle.

He then set his sights on the Universal Championship, attacking then-champion Seth Rollins. the two met in a Hell in a Cell match which controversially ended in a referee stoppage after Rollins buried The Fiend under anything he could get his hands on after several Curb Stomps. Weeks later, Wyatt received a rematch at Crown Jewel and successfully captured the title from Rollins. He held it until the following February when Goldberg defeated him in under three minutes at Super ShowDown.

Bray Wyatt’s next target was John Cena, and at WrestleMania 36 in a bizarre cinematic Firefly Fun House match, he defeated the 16-time World Champion who promptly vanished from the ring.

Wyatt won the Universal Championship for a second time by defeating Braun Strowman at SummerSlam 2020 after the pair engaged in a heated feud over the title which also included Strowman’s love interest Alexa Bliss. His title reign was short-lived as a few weeks later Roman Reigns kicked off his historic run with the championship by defeating both Wyatt and Strowman in a Triple Threat match.

The Fiend reignited his rivalry with Randy Orton, culminating in a Firefly Inferno match which saw Orton burn Wyatt alive. He reappeared several months later, assisting Bliss in defeating Orton. However, when Orton and The Fiend faced off again, Bliss appeared and stared down Wyatt before both vanished. Bray Wyatt was then released from WWE in July 2021.

After the lengthy viral ‘White Rabbit’ campaign, Bray Wyatt made his return to the company at Extreme Rules in October 2022. He is now seemingly appearing as himself, although is being menaced by the masked Uncle Howdy character who shows up during Wyatt’s segments to berate him and claim he will end up losing control.
