Brock Lesnar Not Expected Back In WWE Until 2024

Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar will be taking a lengthy break from WWE.

At SummerSlam Brock Lesnar was pinned by Cody Rhodes, bringing an end to the feud which began in mysterious circumstances the night after WrestleMania 39. Rhodes won their first match at Backlash before Lesnar picked up the win at Night of Champions before Rhodes won again in Detroit.

While the victory has set the American Nightmare back on the road to finish his story — or at least move to a new chapter — more questions surround The Beast. A report after the show dismissed the idea that Brock Lesnar had retired, but he won’t be back any time soon.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Lesnar won’t be back until 2024, missing an event he had been previously advertised for.

“So Brock was originally advertised for one of the pay-per-views later this year, but he’s not going to be on it. He’s going to be gone for a while, no time soon as far as the next 4 months or something like that, he’s not going to be on anything at that point. I mean, he will be back for Mania season, he is coming back. So that’s the situation with him.”

What Happened After Cody Rhodes Beat Brock Lesnar?

At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar was at his dominant best, despite not picking up the win. For much of the 17-minute contest, he utterly destroyed Rhodes only for his rival to squeeze out the win.

With the match over, Lesnar took off his gloves and embraced Rhodes, before raising his hand. Speaking after the show, Rhodes said he feared Lesnar was coming to continue the fight as the post-match moment was totally unplanned.

Following SummerSlam, Lesnar would make an appearance outside of WWE in an unlikely location.
