Roman Reigns Confirmed For WWE SmackDown Despite Injury

Roman Reigns with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns confirmed for “Hail To The Chief” segment on SmackDown.

After picking up yet another win, and retaining his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns will be heading to SmackDown on August 11th. At the summer spectacular, Reigns defeated Jey Uso in a battle for much more than World Title gold.

With the title of “Tribal Chief” on the line, Reigns and Jey went to war with weapons of all kinds being used in the brawl. The action came to a close with Jimmy Uso getting involved and coming to the aid of Reigns rather than his brother Jey.

Elsewhere on the show, Austin Theory defends the United States Title against Santos Escobar, and Karrion Kross and AJ Style will go one-on-one once again.

Is Roman Reigns Injured?

The planned appearance for Reigns on SmackDown has raised some eyebrows given the news that broke overnight following Raw. It’s been reported that Roman Reigns suffered an injury at SummerSlam in his match with Jey.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the injury occurred during the early stages of the clash.

“Yeah, but he got hurt. I don’t know the nature of the injury, just that he was hurt. He worked the match and he got hurt early in the match. I don’t know what his schedule is, but he’s going to be on the show on Friday night.”

The exact nature and severity of the injury remain unknown.
