MJF Blasts Fan’s “Brain Dead Take” On Kenny Omega

AEW World Champion MJF has hit out at one fan’s social media thoughts on Kenny Omega, calling their take “brain dead!”

MJF is set to defend both his and Adam Cole’s ROH World Tag Team Championship in a handicap match at AEW WrestleDream. Ahead of the bout, Friedman spoke to WrestlePurists about a variety of topics, including now-former AEW star CM Punk.

The outlet asked him for his thoughts on Punk’s short-lived time as the self-proclaimed ‘Real’ AEW World Champion. In a surprising response, MJF admitted that he had no issues with Punk’s claim as it gave those on Collision something to fight over so that he could focus on being champion elsewhere.

“Collision is really important and Collision’s success is super important. So at the time, having a guy of that stature (CM Punk) having something that everybody on that show could be fighting for, is realistically, as much as Tony Khan wishes he could clone MJF, I cant be everywhere at once, so I didn’t have an issue with it. I thought it made all the sense in the world.”

WrestlePurists posted his comments to their X account, leading a fan to respond that, in their eyes, they made MJF look better than AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega. They went on to say that MJF understands the business whilst Omega is “afraid to take a stand because of stubborn friends.”

MJF didn’t take kindly to their thoughts on the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, however. In response, he blasted the fan’s comments as a “brain dead take” and reminded them that AEW as a whole would not exist without Omega’s contributions.

“Brain dead take. This company doesn’t exit without Kenny.”

Kenny Omega has since returned the compliment, saying MJF will lead AEW to “the promised land.”

In the same interview, MJF also tackled recent criticism on the likes of The Dark Order and The Righteous challenging him and Adam Cole on AEW pay-per-views as of late.

Mark Henry Recently Compared MJF To Stone Cold Steve Austin

Fans aren’t the only ones praising the current AEW World Champion. Wrestling veteran Mark Henry compared MJF to the legendary Steve Austin during a recent edition of Busted Open Radio.

Henry claimed that MJF is an entertaining star with an uncanny ability to reel fans in beyond the limitations of being a babyface or heel, similar to Stone Cold.
