The Rock Calls Vince A Father Figure And One Of His Greatest Mentors

The Rock

The Rock has revealed that he believes Vince McMahon to be one of his greatest business mentors and a father figure to him.

A fan posted a question to Dwayne on Twitter following the successful airing of episode 3 of his ‘Young Rock’ TV series, asking “How influential was Vince McMahon to you?”.

Rocky responded with a heartfelt message about the WWE pioneer:

Vince McMahon was one of my greatest business mentors and a father figure. Not always the relationship one would want with their boss but the convergence of our lives made it to be. We laugh when we get together because we always pick right back up where we left off. #YoungRock
On screen, Vince McMahon and The Rock shared the ring together several times, the first of which during McMahon’s infamous feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin in 1997. The Rock at one point became the ‘Corporate Champion’ when ‘The Corporation’ was formed around Rocky and Shane McMahon in 1998.
In 2000, Vince was in The Rock’s corner at WrestleMania 2000 in the Fatal Four-Way between Rocky, Triple H, Mick Foley and The Big Show. The match ending when Vince turned on the Rock to hand Triple H the title!
The Rock famously delivered payback to Vince when on SmackDown in 2001, The Great One ‘closed’ the ‘Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club’ after forcing Vince to pucker up for Rikishi.
The pair have been both allies and enemies on WWE TV, but it’s clear that off-screen there’s a bond shared between them – Dwayne Johnson’s latest words a testament to that.
