“They’ve Earned The Right To Pick Their Spots” – Triple H On John Cena’s Criticism Of The Rock

The Rock Thumb

‘The Game’ Triple H has spoken on the criticism of The Rock by John Cena several years ago about being a part-time superstar.

In 2012 and 2013, John Cena and The Rock came face-to-face in the middle of the ring for the first time in what many considered to be a dream scenario. Billed as ‘once in a lifetime’ which actually turned out be to twice in a lifetime, the pair began to trade barbs on WWE television in order to build their WrestleMania 28 and 29 bouts.

During that verbiage, Cena brought up Dwayne Johnson’s status as a Hollywood mega-star and cited that he had turned his back on professional wrestling and was, at the time, nothing more than another part-timer who was trying to take the spotlight of men like him who was present week in and week out.

Now, John Cena himself has taken on the status of part-timer with his presence heavily rumoured for WrestleMania 37 on April 10 and April 11.

In the wake of the news that the leader of the Cenation may return to ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’, Triple H has sat down with The Michael Kay Show to discuss the criticism of The Rock by John Cena:

“You find yourself when you’re in the thick of it being that guy that says, ‘I’m here everyday. This is my house and my place,’ but then you get to where John Cena is. You get to where The Rock is. You get to where Taker is or [Ric] Flair or anybody else where you’ve earned the right with fans to come back every now and then and tip your cap and for them to say, ‘man, thank you for all of that’ and for you to re-live those moments.

John has earned that. Whether he spoke badly about it in the past and meant it, or whether he didn’t, he earned that right. He’s earned that right to pick his spots.”

The last time we saw John Cena in a WWE ring was at WrestleMania 36, when he was pinned by The Fiend Bray Wyatt at the conclusion of a novel and exciting Firefly Funhouse Match.
