CM Punk Already Having Positive Impact On WWE Business But Fans Are Set To Be Disappointed

CM Punk slaps fans' hands on WWE Raw

CM Punk is seemingly responsible for a large amount of tickets being sold for the upcoming WWE Raw taping.

With Punk making his return to weekly TV on the November 27th broadcast of Raw, many fans believed that Punk would be on the following week’s show on December 4th. This has been reflected in ticket sales, as the social media account WrestleTix are reporting that 1,665 tickets have been sold in the past 7 days and Punk being the main factor.

Unfortunately for fans travelling to Albany, New York with the hope of seeing Punk, there is a strong possibility that “Cult of Personality” will not ring through the MVP Arena.

It should be noted that while Punk is front and centre for the advertisements for the December 8th Tribute to the Troops SmackDown special, The Best in the World is not advertised for the December 4th Raw. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has stated that many fans will be angry at the decision to not include Punk on the show:

“There’s going to be a lot of upset people because they sold almost 1700 tickets in the last week for Albany for Raw, and that’s for Punk,”

Meltzer continued, stating that although Punk is back in WWE and was on the November 27th episode, there has never been any word from the company that Punk will be at the Albany tapings:

“They never advertised him. The people just bought the tickets, assuming he would be there. Tickets moved. That’s a lot of tickets to move in a week, and that’s the reason they moved.”

While the former World Champion could make an unannounced appearance during the broadcast or on a live segment, it seems unlikely as WWE know that fans will buy tickets to see the recently returning Superstar and want to capitalise on this.

Will CM Punk Talk About AEW?

During his time in AEW, Punk took multiple shots at his former employer. Now back in WWE, many fans are expecting return shots to be fired at All Elite Wrestling. With conflicting reports being published about what CM Punk can or can’t say about AEW, it remains to be seen if Punk wants to or plans to make references to his former promotion.
