Vince McMahon Chewed Out WWE Hall of Famer For Smoking Weed With Randy Orton

Randy Orton & Vince McMahon

WWE Hall Of Famer Teddy Long has recounted being chewed out by Vince McMahon after sharing a joint with Randy Orton at a SmackDown taping.

Long spent a number of years as SmackDown General Manager after being appointed to the on-screen role in July 2004, famously lining up a number of tag team matches alongside pitting countless Superstars in one on one matches with The Undertaker.

It would appear that former manager of Doom enjoyed some backstage relaxation with Randy Orton on ‘The Apex Predator’s’ private bus when not making matches, with one such session leading to a chilled out Long going over the top in an introduction for Orton, much to the annoyance of Vince McMahon.

Speaking during an appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE referee Long revealed that his over enthusiastic announcement of ‘The Legend Killer’ met with the displeasure of McMahon afterwards:

“So me and Randy, we’re on the bus, and we’re smoking. I think we were done so we were high as a kite. Next thing I know it was time to make the dark match. I ran out to make the dark match and Randy’s in the dark match.

We were in St. Louis, his hometown. I’m so high, I’m going, ‘He’s The Viper, he’s The Legend Killer, he’s your hometown boy.’ So I’m just going crazy.

By the time I’m going through Gorilla and Vince is standing up. He’s waiting on me, and he’s telling me, ‘Come here.’ I walked over there, and I knew I was in trouble.

He says to me, ‘You in business for yourself out there?’ I said, ‘No.’ He says, ‘Goddamn it, they know he’s the Legend Killer. It’s his hometown. They know he’s The Viper. Why in the hell you gotta keep telling them?’

I just caught myself, and I said, ‘ Sir, you’re exactly right. I was playing. That will never happen again.’ He said, ‘Yeah, you’re better than that.’ That was the only time I had a problem with him.”

Recently Teddy Long discussed the time he made Jim Cornette and honorary Black Muslim during a promo.

Has Randy Orton Admitted Smoking Weed Backstage?

Teddy Long is not the only WWE Hall Of Famer to have enjoyed hanging out backstage with Orton. In 2021, the former WWE Champion revealed that he had smoked with Snoop Dogg at WrestleMania 24.
