Matt Hardy Claims Morale Is “Really High” In AEW

Matt Hardy says it’s a good time to be in AEW.

2022 was a difficult year for the promotion with a number of backstage conflicts overshadowing lots of impressive action in the ring. 2023 was seen as an opportunity to get things back moving in the right direction but CM Punk’s simmering tension with The Elite and those around him once again came to the surface.

The end result was a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In and Punk was fired just days later.

This sparked a concerted effort to try and unite the locker room and keep the company moving forward.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the tag team legend expressed his excitement about where AEW is going, commenting that everyone’s really happy and morale’s high.

“It’s a new era for AEW, and I think it’s a good era where we’re not really gonna be necessarily having the split rosters and split shows, but I think they’re going to kind of work more in unity. There’s going to be a unison between these two shows, and people are gonna tell stories between them, and I think that’s a good thing to keep all options open.

So I’m excited about this new era. Morale is really, really high. Everybody’s happy. It’s a great team effort. Everybody’s working together. There’s no one there that is unhappy. So it’s a good time to be a part of AEW, and I’m very excited for what the future holds,”

The comments from Matt Hardy come after Chris Jericho also praised the atmosphere backstage.

Jericho said people only tend to focus on the negative things that happen, despite the many positives in AEW. The former World Champion added that the problems that existed had been dealt with and the company is in a better position than it was a month ago.
