AEW Talent Expresses Frustration With Creative Ahead Of Exit

AEW Dynamite set

Back in February, it was revealed that Vickie Guerrero would be leaving AEW when her contract expired in July. Something later confirmed by the star herself.

Guerrero joined AEW in late 2019 and served as a guest commentator on Dark. Seven months later she appeared at Fight for the Fallen and was revealed to be Nyla Rose’s manager, a role she has held ever since.

In June 2021, Guerrero unveiled Andrade El Idolo as AEW’s latest signing on Dynamite and acted as his manager as he took his first steps in the promotion.

Despite being Rose’s manager, Guerrero recently revealed that she was instructed to stay at home rather than attend an episode of Rampage.

Speaking in a new interview with Denise Salcedo, Guerrero revealed that she’s got lots of other projects in the pipeline once her deal with AEW ends.

“I am doing other projects. With me, having a decision to… after July, I’ll be leaving AEW, which is publicly known. But I have some great projects. I have a TV project that’s coming out that I can’t say yet because it’s not publicly been announced. It’s gonna be really exciting. I work with HSN, I’m an influencer. I’m gonna start going live with them next month, which I’m really excited about. To earn commission and to get paid, how great is that? To go shopping, I have shopping at my fingertips. That’s a woman’s dream. I’m writing my book, and so that’s another project that we’re doing.”

Reflecting specifically on her time with AEW, Guerrero praised the company but admitted to feeling frustrated about a lack of opportunities.

“AEW’s been good with me. I loved my time there. I was there for three years. I just want more in life. My character wasn’t progressed for the three years, and opportunities weren’t given. I just felt like, for me, as a professional decision, I needed to go somewhere else where I’m able to be the character that I want to be and to be appreciated for the work that I can present inside the ring. Even though I’m gonna miss managing Nyla and Marina, three years is good.

I tried it, I bought the t-shirt, I get to say I was there, and I’m ready to move on and bet on myself. So with the way doors have opened, I’m very grateful, and I know that AEW’s gonna be very successful, and they’re gonna do great stuff in the future. I just want to take a different road,”

Vickie Guerrero Joined AEW After Memorable Run With WWE

Vickie Guerrero is best known for her time in WWE where she first appeared on-screen in 2005 as part of the storyline involving her husband Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. After Eddie sadly passed away, Vickie gradually made more and more appearances on television and eventually became SmackDown’s General Manager.

She remained with the company until 2009 when she left to spend more time with her family. However, it wouldn’t be long until she was back on-screen managing Lay-Cool. Guerrero left WWE for the final time in WWE in 2014 to pursue opportunities outside of wrestling.
