Tiffany Stratton Recalls Scrapped NXT Gimmick

Tiffany Stratton Appears On WWE Raw

Tiffany Stratton has revealed that she pushed hard to bring a Barbie-style persona to her NXT character.

Stratton has featured heavily on NXT television in recent months and battled ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch in the main event of NXT No Mercy on Saturday night.

Lynch was pushed to the limit by her challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship in a terrific extreme rules bout in Bakersfield, California.

Speaking in an interview with Matthew Aguilar of ComicBook, Stratton revealed that she once pitched an idea to NXT management that would see her take on a persona reminiscent of the legendary Barbie doll, whom Stratton is often compared to:

“The whole Barbie stuff, I actually wanted to be called the Buff Barbie Doll since the very beginning.

I pitched the Barbie stuff for a while, and they always told me that, ‘Oh, we can’t trademark Barbie. It’s already a thing.’

When I was a bodybuilder, I got on the little Snapchat Stories thing and they called me the Buff Barbie Doll, and I thought it was so cool. It matched perfectly.

And then I tried to bring it to WWE, and they told me no. But I think just with the Barbie movie coming out, and I think it was just the perfect time to put my name in the Barbie letters, the pink gear, and just incorporate some Barbie stuff there.”

Tiffany Stratton’s Previously Scrapped NXT Gimmick

It is not the first time that the former NXT Women’s Champion has lifted the lid on previously scrapped gimmick ideas.

Recently, Stratton revealed details behind the scrapping of her original ‘daddy’s girl’ persona that she portrayed when debuting in NXT in December 2021.

Stratton has made huge strides in her career in the past year and recently revealed that Charlotte Flair had been working with her behind the scenes.
