Tiffany Stratton Reveals Reason Behind Scrapped “Daddy’s Girl” Gimmick

Thea Hail Tiffany Stratton WWE NXT

Tiffany Stratton has lifted the lid on the reasons behind a scrapped NXT storyline.

The former NXT Womens Champion debuted on NXT in December 2021 with a spoiled rich girl persona, defeating Fallon Henley in her first bout.

Feuds with Sarray and Wendy Choo would follow before Stratton was sidelined with injury in October 2022.

By the time she returned in January 2023, the ‘daddy’s girl’ element of the gimmick had been dropped. Speaking to WrestlingNewsCo, Stratton explained why:

“In the beginning I was kind of like Daddy’s little rich girl. I kind of just was like, I want to get on TV. And you know, this was kind of like new & different I guess. So I pitched it. It stuck. And it works for a little bit until they’re like, we don’t have a Daddy for you. So you’re not Daddy’s little rich girl. We never got that far. We never really [thought] it out. So that’s why I think it got scrapped.”

Stratton had previously told the Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore podcast that she wasn’t a fan of the original character, before explaining it’s origins:

“When I first debuted as Daddy’s Little Rich Girl, my character wasn’t really me. Slowly, we have developed my character into my real life personality, just turned up a couple of notches.

I’ve definitely drawn inspiration from Sharpay Evans from High School Musical and, I love Paris Hilton, I love the fashion, she’s literally a living legend, an icon, any mean girl character I draw inspiration from.”

In the same interview with the 5-time WCW Champion, Stratton also laid out her plans for a move to the main roster, noting that she was targeting a switch to Raw Or SmackDown by WrestleMania season:

“I have gotten a little taste of what it’s like to be on Raw. I really would love to be called up as soon as possible, but I do know that I have some stuff to work on.

I feel, at the latest, I would want to be in NXT, around WrestleMania time I feel is my calling. We shall see. Whenever the time is right. I believe timing is right and everything happens for a reason. Whenever it happens is when it’s meant to happen.”

When Did Tiffany Stratton Lose The NXT Women’s Championship?

Stratton defeated Gigi Dolin, Roxanne Perez and Lara Valkyria in a single elimination tournament to lift the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Battleground on 28th May 2023 and held on to the gold until ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch would defeat her to lift the title on the September 12th edition of NXT. Following multiple appearances on the main roster, Tiffany Stratton revealed some kind words that were said to her by Paul Heyman.
