More Details On Roman Reigns’ WWE SummerSlam Injury

Jey Uso & Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam

More details have come to light regarding Roman Reigns’ recent injury.

While Roman Reigns might have overcome Jey Uso at SummerSlam, the star paid a price for his victory. Following the Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso-assisted win, it was reported that Reigns suffered an injury during the contest. Little was known about the injury, other than it was said to have occurred early on in the 36-minute match. Despite the issues, Reigns wrestled the rest of the match as planned, and everything went off as scheduled.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that Reigns suffered a back or hip injury following a Jey Uso dive to the outside where he crashed into the barricade.

“Reigns suffered either a hip or back injury from the tope from Jey Uso about five minutes into his main event match. You could see the way he moved and walked that he was in pain, but to his credit, unless you were looking for it you probably didn’t see it.”

Will Roman Reigns Be At SmackDown?

Despite the injury, Roman Reigns is currently advertised for the August 11th episode of SmackDown. The star is set to feature in a segment titled Hail To The Chief, which will also see Jimmy Uso give an explanation for his actions at SummerSlam.

It’s been reported that Reigns’ creative isn’t expected to be affected by the injury.

It’s been noted that the working plan is still for Reigns to hold the Undisputed WWE Universal Title until being beaten by Cody Rhodes.
