Cody Rhodes Drops Major NXT Tease

Cody Rhodes on NXT

Cody Rhodes has teased some major news for NXT.

On October 10th, the American Nightmare served as the guest GM for WWE’s third brand as the show went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. On the show, Rhodes announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the men’s Breakout Tournament. This was alongside generally pulling the strings across the episode, and setting up matches along the way.

However, while his role as GM was for one night only, his influence on the show isn’t over just yet.

Rhodes has taken to social media to write that he made one more big decision before ending his night as GM.

Last Tuesday before the clock struck midnight 🕰️ I made one final decision as Guest @WWENXT GM. Find out what that decision was this Tuesday on NXT! 8/7c on @USANetwork @WWE

Cody Rhodes Helps NXT To Huge Ratings Win

The October 10th episode of NXT was stacked with huge names as WWE tried to ensure victory over AEW. The show featured appearances from John Cena, Paul Heyman, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, The Undertaker, and Asuka as well as Rhodes.

When the ratings were released it was immediately obvious that WWE’s strategy worked. NXT pulled in 921,000 viewers compared to the 609,000 viewers who tuned in to AEW Dynamite.

Despite the loss, Tony Khan attempted to claim a strange victory on social media posting that AEW had broken long-standing WWE records as The Undertaker and Cena had never been on a show that drew less than one million viewers previously.

It’s been reported that some within WWE saw these comments as a declaration of war.

Having previously wrestled in AEW, Cody Rhodes has discussed how he was offered a major match in the promotion prior to his departure back in Spring 2022.
