Seth Rollins To Defend WWE World Heavyweight Championship On Raw

Seth Rollins with the World Heavyweight Title

Seth Rollins promised that when he won the World Heavyweight Title he would be a fighting champion and he is already living up to that billing.

Posting on social media, Rollins wondered how long it had been since the World Championship had been defended on Monday Night Raw, before stating that it was Big E back in November 2021.

Deciding that it had been too long the star laid down an open challenge for June 5th. The Visionary didn’t have to wait long to get a reply, with Damian Priest sending a message of his own just 15 minutes later. The match was then made official on SmackDown.

The match comes after Rollins crossed paths with the Judgment Day on May 29th, before teaming with AJ Styles to defeat Priest and Finn Balor in the main event.

It was recently reported that Damian Priest is now seen as a “potential main eventer” backstage following his exploits with Bad Bunny at Backlash.

Seth Rollins Takes Aim At Roman Reigns

The World Heavyweight Championship came into being after WWE publicly admitted that having Roman Reigns hold both World Title belts wasn’t working. The Tribal Chief has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion since WrestleMania 38.

This led to Triple H announcing the creation of a new championship that would be exclusive to the brand where Reigns wasn’t, which ended up being Raw.

Appearing on an episode of The Bump after his victory over AJ Styles at Night of Champions, Rollins said that stars on Raw need a prize to fight for because the Universal Champion wants to keep his part-time schedule.
