AEW Dynamite

The 200th episode of AEW Dynamite featured a Women’s World Title match in the main event, The Elite in a six-man tag, Jon Moxley in an Anything Goes Match and more.

It was the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite from Tampa, Florida.

Match #1:Chris Jericho & Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) defeated Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia – Jericho pinned Garcia after Callis hit Garcia with a baseball bat that the referee didn’t see. Jericho acted like he didn’t want Callis to do it because Chris said “what the f**k” but Jericho still took the pin anyway.

Tony Khan introduced a video package celebrating 200 episodes of Dynamite. Tony also called AEW All In “the biggest wrestling show of all time.” Tony thanked the wrestlers and staff that worked hard to make it happen.

After a break, Matt Menard told Chris Jericho that next week they are going to have a Jericho Appreciation Society meeting and Jericho will be there. Jericho left without saying a word.

Jack Perry was in the ring for a face to face with Jerry Lynn, who said he can’t do anything physical due to all the plates and screws in his neck. Lynn said he had a friend who wrestled in ECW…it’s Rob Van Dam! The fans popped big for RVD who walked out to the Pantera song “Walk” like he had in ECW. Jack backed out instead of trying to fight RVD. Jack tried a sneak attack with a chair, RVD avoided that and RVD went for a spin kick, but Jack backed out of the ring to avoid it. RVD did his “RVD” thumb point with the crowd cheering along with it.

Match #2: Trent Baretta defeated Jon Moxley & Penta El Zero Miedo in an Anything Goes Match. – A lot of weapons were used here with multiple tables being broken, there was a barbed wire 2×4 piece of wood and thumbtacks. Trent bled, but Moxley did not. Trent won after Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on Penta and Trent hit a knee on Moxley leading to Trent pinning Penta.

After the match, the Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta joined Moxley, who fought with Best Friends Trent, Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor. After the ring was cleared, Chuck said they should have a Parking Lot Brawl on Rampage.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman, the AEW World Champion, did a promo talking about how his issues growing up and having trust issues with people. MJF said he’s a changed man thanks to his best friend Adam Cole. That led to Adam Cole joining MJF in the ring with Cole saying that he was proud of Max becoming the man he has become. MJF said he promised Cole a match for the AEW World Title, so MJF presented Cole with a contract for a match at All In on August 27th. Cole signed it without reading all of it. Cole and MJF said they loved eachother. They hugged to end it.

Roderick Strong (in a neckbrace) was shown backstage getting mad about what Adam Cole just did with MJF. The Kingdom’s Matt Taven & Mike Bennett walked up to say Cole was always forgetting about his real friends.

Match #3: The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh. – There was a lot of chaos involving people not in the match. That included The Hardys beating up Sonjay Dutt for trying to interfere. Jeff Jarrett tried to hit Omega with a guitar shot, Omega avoided it and Hangman Page hit Jeff with a Buckshot Lariat. Omega finished off Lethal with the One Winged Angel for the pinfall win.

After the match, “Hangman” Adam Page announced The Elite have re-signed with AEW. Omega said you will see more of them, even on Collision.

Swerve Strickland & Darby Allin beat up Nick Wayne at the Buddy Wayne Academy. Darby Allin got a phone call and Swerve told Allin that this is just the beginning.

Match #4: Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) defeated Komander & El Hijo Del Vikingo to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles. – Davis avoided a Shooting Star Press from Komander. Aussie Open hit their Coriolis double team finisher for the win.

There was a video promoting the AEW Collision match between CM Punk defending the Real World Title against Ricky Starks.

Match #5: Hikaru Shida defeated Toni Storm to win the AEW Women’s Championship. – Storm’s allies in The Outcasts (Saraya & Ruby Soho) interfered throughout the match, but Shida was able to fight back from everything. Storm went for the sunset flip pin, Shida reversed it and sat on top for the pinfall win.

Hikura Shida celebrated the win as she became the second two-time AEW Women’s Champion in company history (Toni Storm was the first).
