It’s WWE SmackDown following SummerSlam as The Bloodline main events with a lengthy promo while Austin Theory put the US Title on the line.

This week’s Smackdown took place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The new Smackdown commentary team of Michael Cole, Kevin Patrick & Corey Graves were together at ringside to call the action.

Match #1:Charlotte Flair‘s match with Asuka ended when IYO SKY hit a missile dropkick on both women at the same time. – It was a No Contest/Double Disqualification type of ending after about ten minutes.

Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY, the new WWE Women’s Champion, and Bayley beat up Flair & Asuka after the match by sending them into the turnbuckle/ring post. Dakota Kai was there but did not get physically involved since she is yet to be cleared to return to action.

Santos Escobar was interviewed by Kayla Braxton saying he was confident about his US Title against Austin Theory. That led to Theory doing a cheap attack. Theory slammed an equipment case lid onto Escobar’s left leg. Escobar’s LWO buddies showed up, so Theory ran away.

Match #2:AJ Styles (w/Michin) defeated Karrion Kross (w/Scarlett) with a Styles Clash for the pinfall win. – Scarlett interfered, so Michin beat up her up and threw her over the commentary table. Styles finished off Kross after that.

Austin Theory thought he wouldn’t have to defend the US Title tonight, but Rey Mysterio was there to tell Theory that Santos will make it to the match.

Edge did a promo about how he wanted to come to Calgary to see the fans there. Edge said next Friday on Smackdown is his 25-year celebration in WWE, so he wants a match against somebody he’s never faced before: Sheamus. Edge told a story about how he fell off a bike while riding with Sheamus and that’s when he knew he could wrestle again. Sheamus spoke about how in 2004, Edge gave him advice when nobody else would. Sheamus agreed to have a match with Edge next Friday on Smackdown in Toronto. They shook hands.

Match #3: LA Knight defeated Top Dolla with a BFT. – Knight won in about two minutes.

LA Knight did a quick promo taking a shot at The Miz and “Uncle Phil” Top Dolla while saying it didn’t matter if it was Raw or Smackdown because everybody will know it was LA Knight’s time.

There was a backstage segment with Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) talking about how great it was when The Street Profits beat up other tag teams last week. Lashley said this group had the potential to take all the gold and Smackdown is ready for some new blood to run this place. There’s no official name for the group yet.

Santos Escobar made his entrance for a match against Austin Theory, but Theory did a chop block attack. Adam Pearce and a “trainer” checked on Escobar. The trainer ruled out Escobar, so Pearce had Rey Mysterio replace Escobar in the US Title match against Theory.

Match #4:Rey Mysterio defeated Austin Theory to become the US Champion. – Rey won clean with a 619 kick and springboard splash. Rey celebrated with the LWO including Escobar. Rey is now a two-time US Champion.

The main event featured Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman doing an in-ring promo with Jimmy Uso interrupting. Reigns said he owed Jimmy after what he did at SummerSlam and he would do anything Jimmy wanted, including making him the Right Hand Man. Jimmy made it clear that he didn’t do what he did at SummerSlam for Roman.

Jey Uso arrived to ask Jimmy why he did what he did at SummerSlam. Jimmy didn’t want Jey to become what Roman Reigns is. Jimmy said he would never be able to live if he let Jey become an evil, manipulative a**hole (it wasn’t beeped here in Canada) like Roman Reigns. Jimmy said he’s fine if Jey hates him, but Jimmy said he did it because he loves him. Jimmy offered Jey a free shot, Jey refused and Jimmy left.

Roman Reigns gloated saying “I told you so” to Jey. Reigns wanted Jey to acknowledge, so Jey hit Roman with a superkick. Jey also superkicked Solo. After Reigns hit a Superman Punch, Jey came back with a superkick and Spear on Reigns.

Jey called for Jimmy (who was in the aisle) to come close to him. Jimmy thought he was getting a hug, but Jey hit Jimmy with a superkick.

Jey looked into the camera without a microphone to say he’s out of The Bloodline, he’s out of Smackdown and he’s out of WWE. The announcers recapped Jey saying he was out of WWE. Jey walked into the crowd. That was the end of the show.
