Eric Bischoff has tipped his hat to MJF following his performance in the main event at AEW All In.
MJF and Adam Cole opened and closed All In, winning the ROH World Tag Team Titles before the main card began, and competing for the AEW World Championship in the main event.
In that main event, the rivals turned friends battled over AEW’s biggest prize, but it was their friendship that gave the most intrigue. As MJF tried to go against his natural instinct to grab the win by any means necessary, Cole’s conscience began to lose out to his desire to win the World Title.
In the end, it was MJF who scored the win, but it seemed he was on the verge of losing his friend. Despite the tension and a few strong words, the pair embraced one more time in the middle of the ring as the show went off the air.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff reflected on the match and heaped praise on both MJF and Adam Cole. In fact, Bischoff went as far as to say the AEW World Champion is the most valuable man in the company.
“So impressed. So impressed. I think MJF, we’re still not seeing the best of MJF yet. That’s still to come. He’s still a child, as far as his career. He’s got so much more to give, to grow, and to learn, and to experience along the way. It’s only gonna make him better every time he comes through the curtain.
He’s already, in my opinion, the most valuable guy on that roster. Without a hesitation, he’s the most valuable person in that company, in my opinion, and he’s going to get more valuable.”
Eric Bischoff has since doubled down on his praise for MJF, explaining why he “respects and admires” the star.
Away from the performers in the ring, the WWE Hall of Famer praised those behind the scenes involved in putting the match together, explaining that their work prevented the match from suffering the fate of many in WCW back in the 1990s.
“I think Adam Cole did a great job. I want to know who laid this match out. More importantly or specifically, who came up with this finish? I suspect I know. Not gonna drop a name, but I’m really curious if this conversation on this podcast creates more conversation on social media because the finish to this match was so well-layered.
When I talked earlier about WCW disease, this is an example of the cure for WCW disease. I’ve often talked about the one thing WCW, even at the height of our success, the one thing we did not do a good job at was coming up with great finishes that provided almost a story within a story. This finish and the drama that ensued, and the execution of it, made this match stand out so far and above anything else, in terms of structure.
As a story, both backstory leading into the match, even using the preliminary show as a foundation or a platform to continue it, but the execution of this, everything about it, the conceit of it. Who laid this out? I want to know. That person is one of the more valuable people in this company, in my opinion.”
MJF Sets Sights On New Horizons
Speaking at the post-show press conference, MJF expressed his desire to wrestle at the legendary Aztec Stadium in Mexico. Although he admitted it wasn’t up to him, the champion said by going public while sitting next to AEW boss Tony Khan, he hoped he could apply enough pressure to make sure it happens.
