WWE Prepared Talent To Answer Questions About CM Punk

CM Punk Could Have A One Year Non Compete Clause

According to a new report, Triple H expected questions about CM Punk at the Fastlane press conference.

Ahead of the September 2nd episode of AEW Collision, Tony Khan announced that CM Punk had been released from his contract following an investigation into his altercation with Jack Perry at All In.

Naturally, speculation began immediately as to whether or not Punk would make a long-awaited return to WWE following his AEW release. While early reports indicated it was a “safe bet” that he might make a long-awaited return to WWE at Survivor Series in Chicago, later reports indicated that WWE turned down Punk’s offer to return and that the two sides are not currently in talks.

WWE Surprised At Lack Of CM Punk Questions At Fastlane Press Conference

According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE expected questions about CM Punk at the post-Fastlane press conference on October 7th. However, no questions about the star were asked by members of the press, which came as a surprise to the company.

The report notes that Triple H specifically was expecting to be asked about the possibility of Punk’s return, and he was prepared to answer in line with the company’s stance that while there is no ill will toward him, Punk is not on his way to WWE and no negotiations are currently taking place between the two sides. The company has been very clear that fans shouldn’t buy tickets to Survivor Series expecting to see Punk.

Fightful asked WWE sources if Punk returning was still a “firm no,” and those sources confirmed that is the case as of now.
