Update On Bray Wyatt’s WWE Contract Status

Bray Wyatt LA Knight

Bray Wyatt hasn’t been seen in WWE for months, and a new report clarifies his contract status with the company.

After being released in July of 2021, Wyatt made his return to WWE at the 2022 edition of Extreme Rules. For weeks prior to his return, mysterious QR codes on WWE television led to clues that seemed tied to his storyline past, leading fans to believe he was on his way back.

His real life brother Bo Dallas also returned to the company, portraying the mysterious character of Uncle Howdy, who regularly confronted Wyatt on television. It’s unclear what the relationship between the two characters was supposed to be, but Howdy featured heavily in Wyatt’s presentation, even appearing atop a podium during Wyatt’s Pitch Black match with LA Knight at the Royal Rumble and diving onto Knight in front of the San Antonio crowd.

Wyatt disappeared from television shortly after the Elimination Chamber amidst reports of a mysterious illness, and while he wrestled on a number of live events, his Royal Rumble match against Knight would prove to be his only bout broadcast on WWE programming. The star was not figured into the WWE Draft, and a report earlier today from PWInsider Elite made waves when it revealed that Wyatt was not listed on WWE’s internal roster.

However, a new report from Fightful Select clarified Wyatt’s status with the company, stating that both he and Bo Dallas are still under contract. According to Fightful, the roster referenced in PWInsider’s report omitted the star due to injury, specifically the illness he’s been battling for months. Uncle Howdy’s creative direction is reportedly on hold while Wyatt is off television.

According to Fightful, Wyatt is “hopeful” and wants to make his return to WWE, but there is no update on his health status or whether he’s cleared to compete. He is still listed as an active Superstar on WWE.com.

Bray Wyatt Was Scheduled To Face Bobby Lashley At WrestleMania 39

Ahead of WrestleMania 39, Wyatt announced that he wanted to face the winner of the bout between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar at Elimination Chamber. Lashley emerged victorious in the bout when Lesnar was disqualified after hitting a low blow, and Wyatt began to build his feud with Lashley on television in the following weeks.

However, amidst reports of an undisclosed illness, Wyatt disappeared from television shortly after Elimination Chamber, leaving his WrestleMania status heavily in doubt. WWE was said to have a “backup plan” in place in case Wyatt was unable to appear, but when it came time for the blockbuster event in Los Angeles, Lashley was left without a match and instead appeared in front of the audience to celebrate his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy win.
