Rob Van Dam Weighs In On Brock Lesnar Ending Undertaker’s Streak

Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam knows the unique nature of Brock Lesnar, even up against another legend like The Undertaker.

On the latest episode of “1 Of A Kind With RVD” Van Dam was asked if there was any truth to the rumor that he was supposed to face The Undertaker at WWE WrestleMania X8 if the match with Ric Flair didn’t come to be. RVD was unaware of any such rumors, but did say he fought Undertaker plenty of times at house shows, particularly in cage matches. He did admit his win-loss record against The Deadman wasn’t anything to write home about.

Van Dam was then asked about what his thoughts were about Brock Lesnar being the “one” in “21-1” and Rob made mention of The Beast also being “one of a kind.”

“I thought that it was cool. It’s a wrestling storyline. Brock Lesnar is, in my opinion, one of the most outstanding individuals to be in the industry. The fact that he could be The UFC Champion at the same time and legitimately brag about being the toughest guy in the world because he sat in that seat – that was so good for the business and he’s so good for the business. He’s what a pro wrestler should be.”

“Who else? Who else is going to beat Undertaker?”

Rob Van Dam Was “Shocked At The Shock” Of Undertaker Losing

Van Dam was actually in attendance at WrestleMania XXX when Lesnar did defeat Undertaker and was surprised at people’s reaction, particularly his pro wrestling peers.

“I was shocked at the shock. I couldn’t believe I couldn’t believe how all the boys were putting that over and they all turned into little kids in my mind. I’m like, ‘Why do they care so much?’ I’m disconnected from that fandom heart for better or worse and so I couldn’t believe it.”

Despite being the unstoppable force he is today, back in 2014, Lesnar’s world-beating act was pretty cooled off, but him ending Undertaker’s streak put him back on the map as The Beast Incarnate. RVD labeled the move as “a good investment” for WWE.
