Ex-WWE Star Reveals Scrapped Plans For Terrifying Brock Lesnar Beatdown

Brock Lesnar is possibly one of the scariest wrestlers to ever step foot in WWE.

A frightening blend of power and speed and legitimate accolades in amateur wrestling and mixed martial arts, The Beast brings a lot of realness into his matches when the bell rings. However, there is one way to make Lesnar even scarier, follow orders from Vince McMahon.

As seen during Lesnar’s first WWE run in the Ruthless Aggression Era, McMahon instructed Lesnar to be even more of a monster, which Lesnar happily obliged. The maniacal McMahon took his sadistic thoughts to a whole new level as he instructed Lesnar to brutalise Zach Gowen, the one-legged wrestler who fast became a thorn in the side of McMahon.

The match was uncomfortable to watch, as Lesnar left a bloody Gowen lying in his hometown as his upset mother looked on in the front row. Ironically, the match ended in a disqualification, meaning that Gowen was the winner. If fans thought that this would be the end of Lesnar bullying the one-legged wrestler, they would be mistaken.

Two weeks later, Gowen was seen with his leg in a cast and in a wheelchair. Lesnar would track Gowen down and continue the uncomfortable beating, pushing Gowen down the stairs. The angle was hard to watch, but it could have been much, much worse.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Gowen revealed that the original plan was for Lesnar to throw him off the top of the SmackDown fist, a part of the stage that was suspended high above the entrance ramp at the time:

“So the wheelchair spot that wasn’t a wheelchair spot to begin with. The original idea. I don’t know if we’ve talked about this. The original idea was for Brock Lesnar to F5 me off of the SmackDown fist through the stage. That was the original idea. Do you remember the SmackDown fist? So we were going to be on top of this Smackdown fist, Brock Lesnar was going to toss me off this bad boy and I was gonna go through the stage, and that was the plan for like two or three weeks, we had to a pivot.

So to speak to the wheelchair spot down the stairs was because creative couldn’t figure out a plausible way for me and Brock Lesnar to be on a reason for us to be on top of the fist. Like how do we get up there? Did he drag me up there? Did he climb up? Is there a secret ladder like we couldn’t figure that part out? I was really excited about that. Because you remember back in the day dude Shane McMahon falling off the set Jeff Hardy doing all this crazy stuff and I’m like, Man, I can’t wait to you know, to me like that doing that stunt was was exciting.”

In the same interview, Zach Gowen described how Vince McMahon prepares for his WWE matches.

Brock Lesnar Not Expected To Make UFC Return

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is fast approaching its 300th pay-per-view. With the magnitude of the event and Lesnar being a former Heavyweight Champion for the promotion, it has been heavily rumoured that The Beast may make a cameo appearance or even compete. However, according to Dana White, Brock Lesnar is not expected to be at the upcoming UFC show.
